META Belize Partners with Hand in Hand Ministries to Discuss Child Brain Development

On July 6th, 2024, the Hand in Hand Ministry opened its doors to a group of eager listeners for their monthly life pep talk. These sessions, held on the first Saturday of each month, have become a beacon of inspiration, guidance, and motivation for many. This month’s session was no exception, featuring the esteemed Azalia Larrieu, Lead Mental Health Therapist at Meta Belize, who shared her insights on “The Whole Brain Child.”

Azalia Larrieu brought her expertise and passion for mental health to 36 attendees. Hand in Hand Ministries’ headquarters in Belize City provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complemented the enriching content of the talk. For one hour, Larrieu delved into the principles and strategies outlined in “The Whole Brain Child,” offering practical advice on nurturing and guiding children toward balanced and healthy development.

Larrieu emphasized the importance of understanding the child’s brain development stages and how integrating the different parts of the brain can lead to better emotional and intellectual growth. With real-life examples and interactive discussions, attendees could grasp complex concepts.

One of the key takeaways from the session was the concept of connecting with children at an emotional level before attempting to redirect their behavior. Larrieu explained how this approach can help calm the child and foster a stronger parent-child relationship. Attendees were encouraged to practice empathy and patience, understanding that a child’s behavior often reflects their internal struggles and developmental phase.

The session also highlighted the significance of storytelling and play in helping children integrate their experiences and emotions. Larrieu illustrated how these activities can be powerful tools to help children make sense of their world and develop resilience. Her practical tips and strategies gave the audience valuable tools to implement in their daily interactions with children.

Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed gratitude for the insights and practical advice shared during the session. One attendee noted, “Azalia’s talk was incredibly enlightening. It gave me a new perspective on approaching my child’s emotional needs and behavior. I feel more equipped to support my child’s growth.”

Hand in Hand Ministry’s commitment to organizing these life pep talks continues to uplift the community. These sessions provide valuable knowledge and inspiration and foster a sense of community and support among attendees.

Looking forward, Hand in Hand Ministry remains dedicated to bringing more insightful sessions to their audience, ensuring time for growth, learning, and inspiration.
