About Meta Belize Mental Health Services
Meta Belize mental health services provide confidential care, wellness services, and organizational support within Belize. We serve individuals, couples, children, adolescents, families, workplaces, and community organizations. In addition, clients can access both in-person and online services.
Our work recognizes that many factors can influence emotional well-being. These include relationships, family experiences, culture, community, work, safety, and access to resources. Therefore, our practitioners consider both the whole person and the environment surrounding each concern.
Dr. Azalia Gongora Larrieu founded Meta Belize and serves as Clinical Director. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trauma specialist. In this role, Dr. Azalia provides clinical leadership while supporting a team with complementary areas of practice. You can learn more about Dr. Azalia Larrieu and her professional background.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide safe, caring, and respectful mental health support that honours each person’s culture and life experiences. Furthermore, we help people strengthen their well-being and relationships while working toward positive changes.
Our Approach to Mental Health Care
Meta Belize mental health services are guided by several principles:
- Trauma-informed: We recognize how difficult experiences can affect safety, trust, relationships, emotions, and the body.
- Whole-person: We consider psychological, relational, social, cultural, and environmental influences.
- Evidence-informed: Practitioners use established clinical approaches that fit their training and each client’s needs.
- Collaborative: Clients actively participate in identifying goals and reviewing their progress.
- Culturally responsive: Practitioners adapt care to the realities, values, and lived experiences of people in Belize.
- Ethical and confidential: Our practitioners work within professional standards, informed consent, and appropriate clinical oversight.

Why Choose a Group Practice?
Different clients may benefit from different areas of expertise and therapeutic approaches. For this reason, a group practice provides access to a wider range of practitioner experience, appointment options, and preferences.
Meta Belize’s intake process helps clients identify an appropriate service and practitioner. As a result, clients do not have to make that decision entirely on their own. You can explore our therapy services to learn more about available approaches and support.
