International Women’s Day is not only about celebrating the women in your life, but it is a global day dedicated to celebrating gender equality. Today, take time to celebrate the historical, cultural, and political achievements of women.
As a community, we can start by raising awareness of women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity, or fund-raise for female-focus charity

This year we raise awareness by celebrating the theme of IWD 2022 #BreakTheBias
Bias is defined as a tendency, inclination, or prejudice toward or against something or someone (psychologytoday, 2022). Often times these biases are led by stereotypes held about others that are different.
I am sure you can think of different stereotypes and biases about women. Some of these biases cause major damage and inhibits women from moving ahead in our society. Today, we not only acknowledge the many biases of women, but we come together to #BreakTheBias, building a healthier and safer Belize, leading to a stronger democracy.
