META Belize, in collaboration with Mind Unlocked, recently delivered two sessions of the “Mastering the Art of Workplace Communication” training for staff of the Belize Tourism Board (BTB).
The sessions took place in morning and afternoon time slots and welcomed more than 30 BTB professionals. Participants engaged in activities and discussions designed around communication in the workplace.
Workplace Communication Training for the Tourism Sector
The training was tailored to the tourism industry. It used scenarios, language, and examples that reflected BTB’s work with hotels, travel agents, tour operators, and local communities.
Facilitator Azalia G. Larrieu, a Mental Health Practitioner with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Practice and Leadership, guided participants through practical communication tools. Participants could consider how these approaches apply both at work and in their personal relationships.
The sessions explored emotional tone in workplace conversations, active listening, trust, and communication across departments. These discussions gave participants opportunities to reflect on how communication influences teamwork and professional relationships.
