Meta Belize’s Dr. Azalia Gongora Larrieu to Present at CSWE 2026

Meta Belize’s Founder and Clinical Director, Dr. Azalia Gongora Larrieu, will represent the practice at the Council on Social Work Education’s 72nd Annual Conference, taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 22–25, 2026.

Dr. Larrieu will present her research poster, “Predictable Supervision in Organized Trauma: A Caribbean Trauma-Informed Practice Model,” contributing a Belizean and Caribbean perspective to discussions on supporting social workers and strengthening systems of care.

Her work explores the role of predictable, reflective supervision in supporting professionals working with children and families affected by trauma. At its heart is a practical concern: professionals need consistent opportunities to reflect, receive support, and navigate the emotional and ethical demands of their work.

For Meta Belize, this presentation reflects a commitment to connecting research, professional learning, and everyday practice. As the practice grows to include additional practitioners, this commitment continues to guide its approach to compassionate, trauma-informed care.

The conference also provides an opportunity to exchange ideas with social work educators, practitioners, and leaders, while bringing experiences from Belize into a wider professional conversation.
