Dr. Azalia Gongora Larrieu recently attended the Rotary Club of Belize Sunrise’s club meeting on September 15, 2026, where she presented The Human Side of Leadership: Connecting, Understanding, and Leading Well.
Her presentation explored the importance of connection, curiosity, and understanding in effective leadership. Through interactive activities and thought-provoking reflections, participants were encouraged to look beyond professional titles and recognize the person behind every position.
The session highlighted how individual experiences and perspectives shape the way we understand concepts such as respect, fairness, appreciation, commitment, and service. It also encouraged participants to consider how the stories we tell ourselves and the assumptions we make about others, can influence the relationships we build and, ultimately, the culture we create.
By bringing a human-centered perspective to leadership, Dr. Larrieu’s presentation offered participants an opportunity to reflect on how greater curiosity, empathy, and openness can strengthen the way we connect with and lead others.
