Meta Belize Group Practice provides confidential mental health care, wellness services and organizational support within Belize. We serve individuals, couples, children, adolescents, families, workplaces and community organizations through in-person and online services.

Our work is grounded in the understanding that emotional well-being is shaped not only by symptoms, but also by relationships, family experiences, culture, community, work, safety and access to resources. For this reason, our practitioners consider the whole person and the environment surrounding each concern.

Meta Belize was founded by Dr. Azalia Gongora Larrieu, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trauma specialist. As Founder and Clinical Director, Dr. Azalia provides clinical leadership while supporting the growth of a team with complementary areas of practice.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide safe, caring and respectful mental health support that honours each person’s culture and life experiences. We help people strengthen their well-being, relationships and ability to make positive changes.

OUR APPROACH

  • Trauma-informed: We recognize how difficult experiences can affect safety, trust, relationships, emotions and the body.
  • Whole-person: We consider psychological, relational, social, cultural and environmental influences.
  • Evidence-informed: Practitioners use established clinical approaches that fit their training and the client’s needs.
  • Collaborative: Clients are active partners in identifying goals and reviewing progress.
  • Culturally responsive: Care is adapted to the realities, values and lived experiences of people in Belize.
  • Ethical and confidential: Services are delivered within professional standards, informed consent and appropriate clinical oversight.

WHY A GROUP PRACTICE
No single practitioner can meet every client’s needs. A group practice expands access to different areas of expertise, therapeutic approaches, appointment options and practitioner preferences. Meta Belize’s intake process helps clients identify an appropriate service and practitioner rather than asking them to make that decision alone.
